BREAKOUT FIGHTER OF THE YEAR (Category 2 of 9)
Every year there's a guy that explodes onto the scene with no hype following him (yeah, it happens). He steps into the cage or through the ropes and lets the guys in Vegas know why they should never make him the dawg ever again. And it doesn't just have to be some punk making his debut. We included anyone that came into the game and had people pickin' their jaws up off the floor. Never doubt these dudes ever again.

Skip this category and move on to the next

Chase Beebe     WEC
The kids only 21 and already has the most wanted 135 lbs gold in the US. He’s able to hold off any onslaught and then just grind it out like no one’s biznaz. // Bennetta W / Jackson W / Bennett W / Wineland W / Yahya W //

Gabe Gonzaga     UFC
He crippled CroCop in devastating fashion, schooling his ass like not even Fedor could. Mighta lost to Randy, but y’all know this Brazilian monster will always be hoverin’ around the top of the heap. // Marrero W / CroCop W / Couture L //

Tyson Griffin     UFC
Been around for a bit now, but never looked as slick as he did this year. Griffin couldn’t post up a shitty fight even if he tried. Three dope fights in a single year by one dude is unheard of. With the big wins he pulled off in ’08, ya gotta think a title shot isn’t far off. // Edgar L / Guida W / Tavares W //

Dan Hardy     Cage Force
The Brits are churnin’ out some slick fighters, and with no disrespect to The Count, Hardy is at the top of the class. He’s killed at the Cage Force tourney, just ask the worked over Ishige, who Hardy made his bitch. An unfortunate kick to the nuts against Yoshida wasn't the greatest way to close out '07, but Hardy is now definitely world renowned. // Izidro W / Ni W / Ishige W / Monma W / Yoshida DQ//

Dong Hyun Kim     DEEP
This is the dude that is puttin’ Korean fighters on the map. Threw Hasegawa around like a rag doll and then got punked on the judges card in the rematch. DEEP can’t hold this stud down for much longer! Rumor is he's comin' stateside soon. // Ando W / Koike W / Maejima W / Hasegawa W / Hasegawa D //

Chris Horodecki     IFL
He’s the IFL’s Tyson Griffin. Keeps dancin’ in the best fights his show has to offer against top shelf talent. Two massive wins against Bartimus, each time the dawg. // Schultz W / Palaszewski W / Odom W / Lierley W / Palaszewski W //

Roger Huerta     UFC
Keeps getting knocked for not fighting top tier guys, but when he rolls over whoever is put in front of him, what else is he supposed to do, murder the dude? One of the most dope wins of the year was when he trounced Alberto Crane usin’ the screen above his head as a map to Crane's mug. // Halverson W / Garcia W / Evans W / Crane W //

Thierry Sokoudjou     Pride
He was a heavy dawg in both his fights in ’08 and both times he absolutely rocked his competition and left ‘em admiring the ceiling. The African Ass Kicker is here to stay y’all and now UFC fans are gonna get to know one of the best light heavies on the planet. // Nogueira W / Arona W //

Deividas Taurosevicius     IFL
He wasn't the biggest name coming out of the IFL this year (although probably the longest), but Taurosevicius was totally terrificius (yeah we went there) through '07. His bust up of a heavily favored Bartimus just after edging out Savant Young was a pretty nice way to close out the year. Although he's been training longer than most realize, Deividas is a new kid on the 155 block that you best recognize, well... now. // D Lauzon W / George W / Roddy W / Young W / Palaszewski W //

Yoshiyuki Yoshida     Cage Force
A relative unknown in his Shooto days, Yoshida has gone from average fighter to one of the most dominating forces in Japan. Rumor is, with the odd win over Hardy, he might be headin’ across to pond to fight in the US, which would be beyond rad. // Hashimoto W/ Inoue W/ Cain W/ Kikuchi W / Hardy W //
