TRAINER OF THE YEAR (Category 8 of 9)
Back in the day your only teacher was your sensei at the local dojo, but with trainers now coaching MMA specifically, it's a whole different ball game now folks. We dropped the ten greatest brains in the game that don't always get the ink they deserve.

Skip this category and move on to the next

Crazy Bob Cook     American Kickboxing Academy
Although Mendez runs the show at the AKA and Camarillo hits the matts there too, the word is that Crazy Bob Cook is the real reason guys like Jon Fitch, Josh Koscheck and Trevor Prangley are bustin’ it out like they’ve been doin’ lately. The thing craziest about Bob is the game plans he helps breakdown for the boys outta AKA.

Mark DellaGrotte     Sitydotong
He’s the muay thai master when it comes to training in the US, some may even say the world. To see how improved and technical KenFlo and Marcus Davis’s games have gotten is proof enough that DellaGrotte’s definitely still an elite level teacher in the sport.

Rob Follis     Team Quest
The Prez of Team Quest that puts together the blueprints for training some of the top draws in the sport. Considered the brains behind the Team Quest movement. Follis trains using respect, not fear like many in the biz think they need to do.

Rudimar Fedrigo     Chute Boxe
Although some of the biggest names out of Chute Boxe have dropped a couple to end out the year, Fedrigo is still considered one of if not the best and most diverse MMA minds in all of Brazil.

Juanito Ibarra     Juanito's Boxing
Juanito provides his fighters with way more than a beefed up technical side to their game (although he does that too). His mental preparation of Rampage is an intangible most trainers find difficult to tap into. Ibarra is a new school trainer that MMA has never seen before.

Greg Jackson     Jackson Submission Fighting
Jackson went from getting knocked for some big losses out of his camp to having guys like Jardine and GSP coming back with some of the biggest wins of their careers. The family environment he has in his gym isn’t seen in too many places in MMA or any other sport even.

Ricardo Liborio     American Top Team
The head honcho at ATT, Liborio is a jiu jitsu wiz that demands absolutely everything you have to give and nuthin’ less. He’s created a MMA-stud-making-machine at ATT and no camp has as many top level fighters all training under one guy. Liborio definitely has his finger on the pulse.

Pat Miletich     MFS
Few guys are good enough to have their own fighting style named after them and although the likes of Hughes, Lawler and even up-and-comer Hey have left his camp, Miletich still produced some of the best fighters in ’07. Pat is the OG when it came to cross training in MMA and still has that golden touch.

Bas Rutten     EliteMMA
Not only has Bas been workin’ guy’s asses off at the EliteMMA gym, but he’s always being called into other camps to help some of the best guys around train for some of this past year’s biggest fights. He’s the guy even the most educated turn to for advice.

Sean Tompkins     Xtreme Couture
He was part of two of the best camps in the world this past year, Team Quest and now Xtreme Couture, on top of working along side Bas. Sean is tagged by most as the next big trainer guys will flock to in coming years, even though he's already posting monster results.
